Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our pieces, ordering, and shipping. If you don't see your question here, send us an email — we're happy to help.

What woods do you work with?

We work primarily with domestic and exotic hardwoods including walnut, maple, white oak, cherry, and select burls. Each piece's description lists the species used. If you'd like a specific wood for a commission, ask us — we can usually source it.

Are your pieces food-safe?

Yes. We finish food-contact pieces (bowls, boards, utensils) with a food-safe finish that has been cured fully before shipping. Care instructions ship with each piece — hand wash only, no dishwasher, periodic re-oil to maintain the finish.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes, on a limited basis. Custom and commissioned pieces are scheduled around our in-stock work and typically take 2–8 weeks depending on complexity and material availability.  If there is a wait list, work starts when it is your turn. Email us with what you have in mind — we'll let you know what's possible and quote a price before any work begins.

How long does shipping take?

In-stock pieces ship within 2–3 business days of payment. Domestic transit is typically 3–7 business days. International orders are arranged on a per-request basis — contact us before ordering. See our Shipping Policy for full details.

Can I return a piece?

Yes — in-stock pieces can be returned within the window listed on our Return Policy page. Custom pieces are non-refundable once work has begun. Natural wood variation (grain, color, mineral streaks) is not grounds for return.

Why does the custom order waitlist require a $10 deposit?

There is a deposit because I need to know you are serious. When waitlists increase in size, it leads to others not wanting to join because of the time it can take, so it is important that the list reflect actual serious desires, and this is also why the deposit is non refundable.  I am open to discussion about individual circumstances if and when the time arises.

How do I care for my piece?

In general — keep wood pieces out of direct sun and away from heat sources. In the beginning you should oil the wood every week, eventually spreading out the need to longer periods between.  We can discuss specific recommendations.
